According to the latest publications, Amazon (AMZN) is set to announce 7000 vacancies in the UK after already adding 3000 jobs this year taking the tally to 10000, as the demand surged this year.
The statement from the giant online retailer said that these new positions will be permanent with the standard minimum wage of £9.50 an hour. Amazon (AMZN) is also aiming to employ 20,000 seasonal posts for the festive period.
Online retailers have been winners during the coronavirus crisis and lockdowns, as the closure of most of the High Street shops, prompted a rise in online shopping, boosting companies such as Amazon.
According to the latest financial reports, Online sales in the UK jumped 50% higher than the figures noted in February this year before the pandemic erupted.
Online-sales in contrast with the overall UK retail sales hit a record high of more than 30% in May, before plunging to 28% in July.
Amazon addition of 10000 workers this year will take the count to a total of 40000 employees in the UK.
Meanwhile, during the pandemic, Amazon hired thousands of temporary employees during and most of them will now be able to make their jobs permanent after this announcement.
Reports said that Amazon (AMZN) is hiring at more than 50 sites of UK. The company said in an announcement that these new jobs will fill the positions of engineering, HR, IT, health and safety and in the finance department, alongside worker for packing picking and shipping duties in response to growing customer demand.
