U.S. Indices Fell On Monday But Overall Momentum Remained Up In November With Record Highs

The New York Stock Exchange dropped on Monday, but for the big indices, November ended up 10-12 percent, the strongest month since 1987. Thanks to the possibility of a coronavirus vaccine and the election of Joe Biden as president, albeit without a “blue wave” in Congress, the month was punctuated by historic records. Appreciating the appointment of Janet Yellen as Treasury Secretary, officially announced on Monday, the possible continuity of Republican control of the Senate is seen as satisfactory for the markets.

At the end, at 29,638 points, the Dow Jones was down -0.91 percent, while the large index S&P 500 dropped -0.46 percent to 3,621 points, and after setting two consecutive milestones last week the Nasdaq Composite, rich in technology and biotech stocks, ended nearly stable (-0.07 percent) 12,198 points. We could see a new outbreak added to the current outbreak in two or three weeks, as warned the director of the American Institute of Infectious Diseases talking to the news channel ABC.
