MRAM struck a deal

With QuickLogic Corporation, Everspin Technologies will deliver Magnetoresistive Random Access Memory (MRAM) technology, design, and back-end manufacturing services (NASDAQ: QUIK). The original award may be worth $2.8 million, and additional options could increase the value to almost $8.7 million.

This is a portion of a grant to develop and demonstrate high-reliability Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technology that is Strategic Radiation Hardened (SRH) to meet current and upcoming Department of Defense (DoD) strategic and space system needs. The Trusted and Assured Microelectronics (T&AM) Program of the DoD is funding this initiative.

Due to its durability and innate radiation immunity, spin-transfer torque MRAM technology is an excellent contender for radiation-hard FPGA devices. The business will collaborate with the other program partners to create reconfigurable FPGA technology for usage in challenging conditions. Everspin was the perfect partner for such a crucial project because of its history of producing reliable MRAM technology and products, which led QuickLogic to sign the partnership agreement with them.

How does MRAM still have an impact?

Strategic radiation-hardened and space applications have been utilizing Everspin MRAM IP and technology for more than ten years. By working with QuickLogic and immediately incorporating MRAM into the FPGA product, Everspin Technologies (MRAM) will expand its current market of standalone MRAM designs.
